Description

In a quiet London office on a Friday evening, a seasoned criminal lawyer pauses his routine to confront an unexpected visitor. The seasoned solicitor, known for his genial demeanor and razor‑sharp mind, is interrupted by a slender, golden‑haired young man clutching a card that bears a name he hoped never to see again. The air is thick with the rustle of plane trees outside, hinting at a calm exterior that soon gives way to unease.

Paul Ravenel introduces himself as the son of a client who died only weeks earlier, a man whose relationship with his father was marked by distance and mutual discomfort. The lawyer’s practiced politeness masks a deeper curiosity; the youth’s eager yet oddly formal speech suggests he has traveled far and carries secrets he is not yet ready to reveal. Their conversation teeters between professional courtesy and a subtle, unspoken test of trust.

As the dialogue unfolds, the solicitor must decide how much of his own past to expose while navigating a case that threatens to reopen old wounds. The encounter sets the stage for a courtroom drama where loyalty, hidden motives, and the lingering shadow of a mysterious death will shape the lives of both men.
