Description

A young woman raised in the shadow of a celebrated detective finds herself haunted by the absence of her mother and the cold indifference of a step‑father who guards family secrets with a iron grip. The modest cottage inherited by her kind aunt Hagar offers a rare glimpse of warmth, yet the whispered legacy of a hidden fortune fuels Madeline’s restless curiosity. As she sifts through memories of cruelty and neglect, her sharp mind begins to turn the everyday cruelties of her upbringing into questions worthy of investigation.

When Lucian Davlin arrives at the depot, his seemingly casual conversation ignites a spark in Madeline that blends admiration with an uneasy sense of intrigue. Drawn to his subtle hints and the mysteries he carries, she resolves to follow the faint trail of clues left behind by her mother’s vanished past. With the tenacity inherited from her famous father, she steps into a world of hidden motives, secret inheritances, and the promise of a case that could finally give meaning to the empty spaces of her own story.
