Description

Deep in the alpine lakes of ancient Switzerland and France, a hidden community lives on platforms rising from the water, their homes built of cedar, rushes, and clay. Twelve‑year‑old Lodrix, the chief’s son, is a restless, brave youth with sun‑kissed skin, flaxen hair and a curiosity that drives him beyond the safety of his floating village. When a warning horn summons the villagers, they discover that the Bear tribe from the land threatens to burn their lake‑dwellings, and Lodrix begs his father for a chance to defend his people.

The chief quickly orders the drawbridge to be raised, cutting off the attackers and buying the village precious time. As the people gather around the stone fireplace, young Lodrix watches his mother skin a freshly caught deer and feels the weight of responsibility settle on his shoulders. With the threat still looming, the lake‑dweller community must decide how to protect their fragile world, and Lodrix’s courage begins to shape his path.
