Description

One sleepy morning Lucy wakes to discover her arms and legs dotted with bright red spots. Though the nurse is alarmed and insists she stay in bed, the curious girl finds the confinement oddly exciting, especially when the family doctor teases that she might be displayed in a museum. As she watches flies buzz and enjoys tea and toast, Lucy’s imagination begins to turn the ordinary bedroom into a stage for adventure.

Enter Mother Bunch, the warm‑hearted housekeeper who runs the household for Uncle Joseph, a retired ship’s surgeon and collector of curiosities. Her pantry overflows with sweet cakes and preserves from distant lands, and her rooms are lined with strange artifacts that whisper stories of far‑off seas. For Lucy and her siblings, a simple walk to the house becomes a treasure hunt, where each drawer and museum display holds the promise of new wonders waiting to be explored.
