Description

In the bleak winter of 1800, a ferocious storm sweeps across the Lövsee district of Värmland, tearing roofs from cottages, toppling fences, and igniting fires that consume whole villages. The locals speak of the gale as a cursed wind, a force that seems intent on erasing everything in its path. Amid the wreckage, a thirteen‑year‑old girl from Koltorpet—known simply as “the Kleine”—stands at the forest’s edge, watching snow, ash and debris swirl like a dark smoke over the valley. The relentless gust tears at her scarf and whirls her woolen dress, a stark reminder of how powerless even the hard‑won warmth of her clothing can be against nature’s fury.

Together with her mother and younger brother Bubi, the Kleine faces the storm’s wrath while clothed alike in simple sheepskin garments. As the wind hurls them toward the treeline, the girl’s bright optimism strains against the crushing realization that the road home is impassable. Her clenched glove hints at a sudden, fierce resolve, setting the stage for a tale of endurance and the fragile hope that may yet emerge from the wreckage.
