Description

Set against the restless roads of early nineteenth‑century France, this tale opens on a slow‑moving stagecoach winding its way from Paris to the distant town of Épinal. The journey, once a twelve‑hour trek through the rolling countryside, is filled with rustic inns, bustling post houses and colorful locals who pepper the road with stories of bandits and legends. Against this backdrop, two weary travelers find themselves thrust into a world where the ordinary hospitality of roadside taverns hides something far more sinister.

As the carriage rolls into the summer heat of 1803, the quiet rhythm of the road is shattered by whispers of “assassins” lurking in the shadows of the Moselle valley. The narrative follows the pair as they navigate a landscape still scarred by the turmoil of the Revolution, where danger and intrigue linger behind every door of the inns they stop at. Their uneasy alliance promises a gripping adventure through a France where the line between hospitality and horror is unsettlingly thin.
