Description

The voyage across the Mediterranean feels suddenly swift as the liner slips into the emerald‑green waters of Port‑Saïd. From the deck, the coastline unfurls—a thin strip of golden sand, scattered islands, and the faint outline of distant dunes. As the ship drops anchor, a lively flotilla of local boats swarms the hull, their crews shouting, tossing fruits, cigars, and glittering trinkets, while eager boys dive for silver coins tossed from the deck. The air is warm, the sky a flawless blue, and the first glimpse of the Nile’s mouth fills the newcomer with a mixture of awe and restless curiosity.

Stepping onto Egyptian soil, the traveler is immediately swept into a bustling maze of porters, merchants, and travel agents eager to guide—or hustle—every visitor. Thanks to the efficiency of a well‑organized agency, the chaotic welcome quickly smooths into a comfortable departure toward Cairo by train. Along the rail line, the landscape alternates between a shrinking lake and the endless stretch of desert, promising a journey that will reveal both the modern rhythm of daily life and the lingering shadows of ancient wonder.
