Description

In the quiet, almost forgotten town of Quiquendone, a sprightly mayor and his council keep the usual rhythm of provincial life. Into this sleepy scene steps Doctor Ox, a charismatic physiologist whose curiosity borders on obsession, and his silent assistant, Ygène. Ox unveils a daring experiment—dispersing a mysterious gas he believes will invigorate the town—setting off a chain of odd, rapidly spreading effects.

Soon the townspeople find themselves unusually energetic, their habits and moods shifting in sync with the strange atmosphere, and the once‑peaceful streets buzz with a frenetic vitality. The mayor, the council, and a young couple of locals watch the transformation with a mix of awe and growing unease, questioning whether progress has a price. As the episode unfolds, the story balances witty satire with genuine wonder, inviting listeners to ponder the fine line between scientific ambition and unintended consequence.
