Description

On a bustling Hoboken pier, a spirited young singer named Tommy says goodbye to her tight‑knit circle of friends as she boards a steamship bound for London. Their teasing banter and hopeful wishes reveal a world of modest dreams, familial tensions, and a yearning for a stage beyond the cramped streets of Bloomsbury. As the gangplank drops and the liner pulls away, Tommy’s golden voice lingers in the air, hinting at a future where ambition meets uncertainty.

Among the onlookers is Fergus Appleton, a detached yet curious architect who lives more in essays than in affection. Drawn by Tommy’s singing and a stray sprig of mignonette in her skirt, he decides to follow her across the Atlantic, seeking both inspiration and a glimpse of what it means to truly live. Their intersecting paths promise a tale of artistic pursuit, friendship, and the fragile balance between chasing fame and finding belonging.
