Description

In the deep woods of western New York, three years after the American Revolution, a solitary homestead clings to a vast forest. Alfred Heverland, a strong‑handed logger turned pioneer, has carved a modest life with his wife, sister, and their bright‑eyed daughter, while the land around them hums with the promise of future towns and the uneasy presence of the Mohawk nation. One crisp morning his routine is shattered by the sudden crash of a massive oak and the arrival of a nervous stranger from New‑Hampshire, whose tentative words hint at hidden dangers beyond the tree line.

The meeting sets off a tense partnership between the rugged frontiersman and the nervous Yankee, each bringing a different view of the wilderness and the looming conflict with the native tribes. As they navigate the forest’s secret paths, they must decide whether trust can survive in a world where the very trees seem to watch. Their uneasy alliance offers a glimpse of the harsh realities and fragile hopes of early American settlement.
