In a fractured future where Earth’s ambitions clash with the newly formed Planet Council, the battle for control of the asteroid colonies has become a high‑stakes political chess game. Councilman Curtis, a vocal opponent of a ruthless faction, finds himself the target of an elaborate plot to replace him with a flawless duplicate that will obey the conspirators without question.

The key to the scheme lies with Jeremiah Greek, a reclusive genius who has mastered the art of creating perfect simulacra. Hired by Max Fleigh and his grizzled aide Slim, Greek’s technology promises to turn the Council’s own rules against it, allowing the conspirators to manipulate votes and seize power. As the team lands on a desolate rock to retrieve their creation, tension mounts between ambition, loyalty, and the unsettling possibility that a man could be reduced to a mere copy.
