Dave Hanson awakens in a sterile, white room that feels both familiar and alien. The sky outside his office window is a patchwork of color, riddled with a strange rift that seems to swallow light, hinting at a world where the heavens are literally falling apart. As he struggles to sit up, disoriented voices discuss cryptic rituals, high‑frequency radiation, and something called a salamander, while a red‑haired nurse soothes him with a gentle “shh.” He can smell burnt incense and sulfur, and the medical staff wear star‑studded gowns that suggest a blend of science and occult.
The opening scenes plunge listeners into a surreal mystery where language twists, reality blurs, and Dave’s own memories feel unreliable. With every breath he takes, the sense that something fundamental—perhaps the sky itself—has been broken grows stronger, setting the stage for a quest that will force him to confront both the strange new world outside the window and the hidden forces shaping his fate.
