Description

In a secluded valley tucked between the craggy peaks of Arkadia, the life of shepherd Eufranor unfolds amid a tapestry of rugged mountains, shimmering seas, and distant, glittering cities. The narrative opens with vivid portrayals of the landscape—herds of goats clambering over stone, the soft hum of bees, and the endless horizon that hints at worlds beyond the hills. Eufranor’s marriage to a mysterious, almost ethereal woman and the birth of their fragile, translucent children set a tone of strange beauty and quiet tension.

As the first whispers of the Persian wars drift across the Aegean, the isolated community begins to feel the tremors of a larger conflict. Traders and soldiers appear on the horizon, bringing news of distant battles and unfamiliar customs that clash with the valley’s timeless rhythm. Eufranor must navigate the delicate balance between preserving his pastoral way of life and confronting the encroaching forces that threaten to upend the fragile peace of his world.
