Description

In a spacious drawing‑room of the Faraday family, an eclectic crowd gathers for an evening that promises more chatter than charity. Colonel Smith, a dry‑witted officer, rubs shoulders with the flamboyant Admiral Grice, while the self‑absorbed patriarch William Faraday presides over his daughters—Celia, the witty middle child, and Phyllis, a charming but selfish youngest. The stage is set for a sparkling social comedy where propriety and pretension constantly collide.

The first act introduces a web of flirtations and misunderstandings, as youthful suitors Robert Tarver and James Raleigh vie for attention amid the watchful eyes of the house staff. Celia’s sharp humor clashes with Phyllis’s selfish whims, while Colonel Smith and Admiral Grice exchange barbed banter that keeps the atmosphere lively. Set in Mr. Faraday’s opulent drawing‑room on a crisp February evening, the gathering reflects the conflicting values of a new generation and their senior counterparts, each eager to assert their own version of propriety. The clever repartee and tightly drawn characters promise an evening of escalating comedic chaos.
