Description

Gloria Doane arrives at the austere Altmount boarding school with a swagger that clashes with the regimented world of Miss Alton’s hallway rules. Still smart‑talking and reluctant to surrender her sense of freedom, she leans on the newly arrived Trixy Travers, a kindred spirit who shares her love of mischief and curiosity. Their banter and schemes already set the tone for a year where friendship will be tested against the school’s strict customs and the looming expectations of proper lady‑like decorum.

When Gloria wrestles with a trunk meant for another girl, she uncovers a glittering cache of beads and a single, blood‑red gem that seems to drink the light around it. The unexpected treasure hints at hidden stories within the school’s walls and suggests a mystery that will draw the two friends into secretive corners of Altmount. With rebellion simmering and intrigue bubbling, their first days promise a blend of youthful defiance and the pull of an undiscovered adventure.
