Description

In the lofty Sierras, a tiny brown bear cub barely larger than a house cat is rescued from a near‑drowning by a forest ranger. The ranger’s camp, perched beside trout‑filled streams and fragrant cedar slopes, becomes the unlikely nursery where the cub, named Fuzzy‑Wuzz, learns the rhythms of mountain life. From the first night, the bear watches the ranger’s burro, a mischievous fawn, a ring‑tailed cat and a watchful owl, forming a lively, mixed family under the pine‑covered cliffs.

As Fuzzy‑Wuzz grows, the story follows his playful encounters with pine squirrels, painted chipmunks, a curious pika, and even a wary rattlesnake. Through gentle adventures and quiet lessons, the book blends natural science with charming narrative, giving listeners a vivid portrait of the high‑country ecosystem. The bear’s curiosity and the camaraderie of his forest friends make every chapter a warm exploration of wilderness and friendship.
