Description

On a bright summer day in the English midlands, a traditional hay‑making scene unfolds across a golden field, its rhythmic rows recalling the gentle swell of sea‑washed waves. While the farmer, Mr. Heath, worries about lingering rain, a ragged but confident youth named Ben Fairfax steps forward, asking for a day’s work with a grin and a sparkle in his blue eyes. His rough appearance and bold manner set him apart from the local laborers, hinting at a past life far from these fields.

Ben’s eager willingness to prove himself quickly draws the farmer’s curiosity, and his quick‑silver charm suggests a talent for getting into and out of trouble alike. As the day progresses, the hay‑field becomes a stage for his restless spirit, friendships, and the first hints of a larger story that will follow his sister, a mysterious sin, and the delicate threads that bind them all. Listeners will find a vivid portrait of rural life mixed with the promise of adventure just beyond the next ridge.
