Description

A tense drama unfolds within the great hall of Turku Castle in 1599, where rival nobles and a Swedish envoy gather under the looming shadow of war. The stage is filled with the Duke of Södermanland, the fierce war‑lord Arvid Stålam, the grieving widow Ebba Fleming, and the enigmatic missionary Daniel Hjort, each bringing their own ambitions and secrets to the uneasy council.

As letters are exchanged and alliances hinted at, the characters grapple with loyalty to the crown, personal vendettas, and the specter of foreign intrigue. The audience senses a fragile peace threatened by old feuds and the looming return of a monarch eager to reclaim power. Within these first scenes, the tension between duty and desire sets the stage for a gripping tale of power, faith, and betrayal, inviting listeners to step into a world where every whispered word could tip the balance of a nation.
