Description

A group of eager Cub Scouts gathers around a crackling fire on a riverbank, waiting for their cubmaster’s promised announcement. When the meeting turns to a heartfelt plan to “adopt” a Navajo Pack—raising funds for blankets, books, and supplies—the boys are instantly united by a shared purpose, each eager to make a difference for their distant peers.

Amid the excitement, Red arrives clutching a mysterious paper bag that he guards fiercely, hinting at something soft and warm hidden inside. Dan, the quick‑witted leader of the group, can’t resist probing, and the tension rises as the night deepens and the woods grow darker. With stories of Indian legends swirling in the firelight, the Scouts find themselves balancing youthful curiosity, a budding sense of responsibility, and the unsettling feeling that something unseen may be watching them.

The story captures the spirit of camaraderie, the adventure of a small community taking on a big cause, and the subtle mystery that keeps the evening’s fire crackling with intrigue.
