GÁBOR ANDOR
In the bustling heart of early‑twentieth‑century Budapest a modest apartment becomes a stage for a lively farce. The household staff – a spirited maid, a chatty cook, and a nervous porter – hustle through the rooms, arranging tea, polishing silver and trying to keep the rhythm of a double‑performance schedule.
In the opening act the maid discovers that the coveted actress who should appear for the evening’s shows is nowhere to be found. As the clock ticks, Lehotai, the anxious husband, and the flamboyant Szendrei arrive, each demanding answers while the cook trades a five‑forint coin for a promise of silence. Misunderstandings pile up, doors swing open and shut, and the audience is drawn into a comedic scramble of secrets, petty negotiations and the frantic effort to keep the curtain from falling before it ever rises.
