Description

In a realm trembling under the weight of rebellion, King Childéric feels the sting of his own past wrongs. When the uprising erupts, he and a handful of loyal companions flee into the dense Ardennes, only to be ambushed and left gravely wounded. A mysterious figure rescues the fallen monarch, carrying him to a secluded druidic sanctuary where ancient rites stitch his wounds and grant him a moment of uneasy peace.

Awakening under the watchful eyes of the druids, Childéric discovers his savior is Viomade, a former ally now cast out for his defiance. Viomade shares the latest news of shifting alliances, the gathering of Roman and Frankish forces, and the fragile hope of redemption. As winter thaws, the king wrestles with lingering doubts—whether his decisions have betrayed his people, his mentors, and his own sense of honor—while the drums of war begin to stir once more.
