Description

At Camp Lenape the pine‑scented mornings are usually filled with the clatter of camp kitchens and the laughter of boys racing through the woods. That routine is jolted when a gleaming limousine rolls up the dusty road, spilling out a well‑dressed family whose worries about their son’s delicate health clash with the rugged simplicity of camp life. Brick Ryan, the camp’s ever‑ready handyman, watches the scene unfold from his wash‑basin, his curiosity sparked by the flash of diamonds and the stack of expensive luggage that seems out of place among the canvas tents.

The newcomers—parents intent on toughening their son and a polite, neatly‑dressed boy who asks Brick for a hand with the heavy bags—bring an unexpected tension to the sleepy outpost. As Brick weighs the request, the air thickens with the promise of a feud that could stir the whole camp, setting the stage for a summer where old traditions meet new demands.
