Description

A bright‑eyed schoolboy with a talent for cricket, Frank Hargue is as comfortable watching a chaffinch fend off a snake as he is stepping onto the village green for a match. His easy charm and steady play make him a favourite among teammates, yet his habit of wandering off to observe nature often lands him in the middle of a game’s chaos. When a sudden call comes for him to leave the familiar fields behind, Frank finds himself thrust from the quiet English countryside onto a far‑off continent where the rhythm of life is entirely different.

Traveling to West Africa, he confronts a world of dense jungles, unfamiliar customs, and the looming threat of conflict. As he navigates this new terrain, his courage and quick thinking—first shown in the cricket field—are put to the test against the backdrop of a looming war. The story follows his growth from a carefree youth to a determined participant in events far beyond his original horizons.
