Description

Alison Fair returns home for the summer after her first year at Briarwood College, only to learn that her family’s finances will keep her from resuming her studies. Faced with her mother’s gentle but firm explanation, she grapples with disappointment, clinging to hopeful letters from friends scattered across the country while trying to keep her spirits up for the sake of her parents.

When a distant great‑aunt passes away, the family receives an unexpected bequest—a mysterious brass lamp accompanied by a cryptic letter. As Alison examines the strange inheritance, she begins to wonder whether this modest gift might hold more significance than it first appears, offering a glimmer of possibility amid the uncertainty of her future.
