Description

A group of eager Boy Scouts from New York City rev their motorbikes and race across Long Island, their khaki uniforms flashing in the autumn sun. When a sudden “hot box” cripples one of the bikes, the friends pause to investigate a subtle sabotage that threatens their ride and tests their quick‑thinking skills. The banter among the boys—full of slang, jokes, and a fierce sense of loyalty—sets a lively tone while hinting at a mystery that reaches beyond a simple mechanical failure.

Soon the trio is swept into a far‑greater adventure, finding themselves paired with the famed Marshal Joffre and thrust into the tangled front lines of Belgium. As the scouts navigate the rubble‑strewn trenches and the hazards of war, their scouting training and brotherly bond become vital tools for survival. The early chapters blend youthful daring with the stark reality of a world at war, promising a story where courage and cleverness are put to the ultimate test.

G. Harvey (George Harvey) Ralphson

1879–1940

Best known for fast-moving Boy Scout adventures, this name belongs less to one easily pinned-down writer than to a publishing-era house identity behind popular juvenile fiction. The books mix action, travel, patriotism, and early-20th-century ideas of scouting in a way that made them durable favorites in boys' series fiction.
