Description

Betty Gordon is about to leave the familiar fields of Oklahoma for her first year at a bustling boarding school, and the excitement of new friendships quickly turns into intrigue. While sharing a box of exotic chocolates and apple tarts with her loyal companion Bob, she learns that a classmate named Louise is also arriving, and rumors swirl about a mysterious girl named Libbie from Vermont who might be joining them. The girls’ chatter about school life is soon interrupted by a cryptic letter and a promise of a hidden treasure buried in the nearby Indian Chasm, sparking a daring quest that leads them beyond the school’s tidy lawns.

As Betty navigates the school's routines—racing, parties, and secret clubs—she discovers that curiosity can be both a blessing and a risk. With Bob’s quick thinking and the supportive, if sometimes mischievous, staff around her, she sets out to solve riddles and uncover clues, all while learning the value of teamwork, responsibility, and the thrill of adventure that lies just beyond the campus gate.
