The story opens with a boozy cantina on a bustling spaceport, where a wiry astrophysicist named Doc, the towering brawler Outhouse, and the slick navigator Listless are celebrating a fresh asteroid haul. Their easy camaraderie is shattered by a whispered warning: Dudley Drake, a ruthless tycoon, has cornered the interstellar beer market and is tightening his grip on the cheap brews that keep crews alive.
Spurred by a mix of personal grudges and a desire for a fair drink, the crew decides to pay Drake a visit. They hijack a copter, storm the sleek steelite tower that houses the monopoly, and use sheer force and clever banter to force an audience with the man himself. What starts as a simple barroom grumble quickly escalates into a high‑stakes showdown that tests loyalty, bravado, and the limits of a good night’s ale.

Best known today for the offbeat science-fiction tale Beer-Trust Busters, this elusive pulp-era writer left behind a small but memorable trail of humorous, fast-moving adventure. Very little biographical information seems to have survived, which only adds to the mystery around the name on the cover.
