Having just liberated Princess Oriana from the Roman fleet, the valiant knight Amadis gathers his companions to tend the wounds of war. The death of the enemy lord Salustanquidio provokes a solemn lament that reaches even the rescued princess, stirring grief in Queen Sardamira and prompting a tense reflection on honor and vengeance. Amid the mourning, Amadis orders a proper burial for his fallen foe, showing the chivalric code that guides his conduct.
With the fleet reorganized, Amadis entrusts the prisoners and spoils to trusted lieutenants while seeking Oriana’s counsel on their next move. She commands the company to set sail for the mysterious Firm Island, hoping the venture will turn the painful beginnings into a hopeful conclusion. United by loyalty and a desire for lasting fame, the knights press onward, ready to face the powerful princes that await them.

Remembered as a shadowy but important figure in medieval Portuguese literature, he is most often linked with the chivalric romance Amadís de Gaula. His story sits at the crossroads of history, legend, and one of Europe’s great early adventure tales.
