Description

In the shadow of towering pines on the Tennessee frontier, a small settlement clings to the edge of wilderness. Young Johanna Harrod, the daughter of a pioneering family, wanders the woods gathering blossoms when a sudden rustle reveals a band of armed Native warriors. Her heart races as she darts toward the protective palisade, the distant shouts of “Indians! Indians!” echoing through the trees.

At the same time, the settlement’s gun‑deck is manned by Jack Alleyne, a freshly commissioned English lieutenant sent by his father, a Virginian official, to oversee the new frontier outpost. Though barely out of his teens, Jack has already seen combat against the Shawnee and now watches the chaos unfold from the wooden embrasures. As the tension sharpens, both the girl and the soldier find themselves thrust into the first violent clashes of the American struggle for independence.
