Description

Simon Newcombe Harriman is a prodigious yet wayward youth whose love of physics rivals his talent on the soccer field. At Yale his brilliant calculations earn him scholarships, while his thunderous kicks make him a campus legend, earning both admiration and envy. But a reckless streak—drinking, fighting, and a violent outburst during an ethics exam—draws the university’s moral overseers into a deadly confrontation.

The incident costs Simon his place at Yale and lands him in a remote prison, where his intellect becomes his only weapon. He engineers a bold escape, seizing a guard’s uniform and slipping into the bustling world beyond the walls. Soon he is drawn into a web of secret messages, eccentric inventors, and mysterious visitors that promise adventures far beyond academia.

A cryptic wireless transmission hints at a daring balloon expedition called “Thule,” pulling Simon toward uncharted skies. Strange guests and looming conspiracies suggest that his newfound freedom will be tested on the very edge of human possibility. The story sets the stage for a wild journey where science, danger, and ambition collide in spectacular fashion.
