Description

In the soot‑blackened backstreets of early 20th‑century Soho, a ragged messenger races through alleys, his breath ragged and his message urgent. He seeks a weary clerk named David Ross, who is hunched over ledgers in a cramped, dim shop that reeks of poverty. Their encounter ignites a whispered panic about the arrival of a shadowy figure known only as Maraton, a name that has already begun to stir the city's underworld.

Aaron Thurnbrein, a fire‑brand of the revolutionary network, claims the newcomer will change the balance of power between the oppressed and the state, even daring to promise a rescue from prisons that would cost a million men. Yet the cramped room offers little comfort, and the looming presence of the Prime Minister’s agents hints that any move could trigger a brutal crackdown. Listeners are drawn into the tense, gritty world where loyalty, faith, and survival clash, and the first act sets the stage for a desperate gamble that could reshape London’s dark streets.
