In the bitter December of 1846 a relentless snow blankets the remote mountains of Vallongo, turning the landscape into a silent, frozen plain. A blind, weary grandmother and her tiny, determined granddaughter Rosa trudge through the storm, clinging to each other for warmth and courage. Their goal is the small town of São Cosme, where the promise of shelter and food flickers like a distant fire.
Every step is a battle against freezing wind and trembling limbs, but Rosa’s fierce devotion fuels the old woman's will to continue. When they finally reach the modest home of Dona Thereza, they are greeted by a crackling hearth and the gentle concern of strangers eager to help. The moment the door closes behind them, relief and gratitude mingle, hinting at the chance for recovery and the deep bonds that have carried them this far.
