Description

A bright‑eyed young narrator embarks on a whimsical tour of England’s grand cathedrals, escorted by her imperious Aunt Celia, whose devotion to High‑Church ritual borders on the devotional. Their journey, plotted by an earnest New York curate, becomes a lively clash of ideas—Aunt Celia’s reverence for stone‑bound ceremony against the narrator’s more relaxed Unitarian upbringing. Along the way, the ancient arches and solemn choirs stir both awe and gentle humor, as the narrator records the quirks of each town and the oddities of the people they encounter.

Amid the stone cloisters, a shy courtship begins to blossom between the spirited Kitty Schuyler and the earnest Jack Copley, whose flirtations are as tentative as the echoing vaults themselves. Their shy exchanges are peppered with witty banter and the occasional misstep, hinting at the delicate balance between propriety and desire. The narrative captures the charm of a bygone era, inviting listeners to wander through vaulted halls while listening to a tender, slightly mischievous romance take its first tentative steps.
