Description

Jack Clewlin grows up in the quiet harbour town of Stonewell, where his mother’s gentle sermons and his father’s long absences at sea shape a boy with a strong moral compass and a restless spirit. By sixteen he’s already tall, sturdy, and drawn to the open water, rejecting a safe clerkship in favor of the sailor’s life his father once led. The decision feels inevitable, a promise to follow the rhythm of the tides and the call of adventure.

When the magnificent clipper Silver Crown drops anchor in Stonewell’s harbour, Jack sees his future reflected in her towering masts and gleaming brass. The ship, famed for speed and daring voyages to distant lands, offers him a place among its crew, and he steps aboard with a mixture of pride and anticipation. Under the watchful eye of Captain Robert Thorne, the young apprentice begins to learn the language of sails, the discipline of the deck, and the camaraderie that binds a seafaring team.

Listeners will be carried alongside Jack as he confronts the hardships and marvels of life at sea, discovering how his early teachings guide him through storms, new horizons, and the timeless challenges of growing up far from home.
