Description

The narrator drifts through a twilight countryside, his thoughts tangled in verses about love and longing. As dusk settles, a distant voice calls his name and a radiant figure—Lady Mirdath, famed throughout the shire—steps from the shadows, her smile a spark in the gathering gloom. Their brief exchange, laced with playful banter and a hint of kinship, draws him into a strange, intimate world that feels both familiar and otherworldly.

Suddenly the peace shatters when three men burst from the trees, knives glinting in the fading light, and the lady's sharp whistle summons unseen dogs. The narrator readies his oak staff, caught between protecting the enchanting stranger and confronting the looming threat. This tense encounter hints at deeper mysteries and a journey that will test courage, loyalty, and the fragile promise of love.
