Description

At a grim‑shrouded cliff on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, a modest wooden outpost clings to the wild, its stockade and lone carronade the only sign of civilization in a vast, untamed silence. Here, English trader Reginald Redding and his sturdy clerk Bob Smart keep the fur business alive, while François Le Rue—cook, handyman, and all‑round survivor—juggles countless duties to keep the tiny community humming. Their routine is suddenly unsettled by reports that the McLeod family, fresh from the wilderness, have set up a saw‑mill at nearby Jenkins Creek, threatening to upend the delicate balance of trade and territory.

The three men gather around a crackling fire, sharing a simple meal and weighing the implications of this new competition. As they debate possible actions, the outpost’s isolation and the encroaching tide of settlers reveal both the promise and peril of frontier life, hinting at the challenges that will test loyalty, ingenuity, and the very future of the Cliff Fort.
