CHAPTER VI - Hunting a Clue
On a lone sandspit at the mouth of Beaufort Inlet, the sea beats relentlessly against a weather‑worn fisherman's hut. Here lives the grizzled Captain Ichabod, a self‑appointed hermit who makes his living from hook‑and‑line and gill‑nets, and his only companion—a battle‑scarred rooster he rescued from a wreck and now calls Shrimp. The rooster serves as a living alarm clock, crowing at dawn and reminding Ichabod that even the most isolated life needs a rhythm.
When a mysterious note is slipped into Ichabod’s hands, the quiet routine begins to fray. A sudden storm drives unfamiliar vessels to the shore, and strangers appear on the beach, each bringing rumors of danger and opportunity. As the captain confronts the elements and the unknown visitors, his solitary world is forced to reckon with friendship, bravery, and the strange tides of change.
