A quiet autumn evening in the Finnish countryside is shattered by an unexpected gunshot. When the Heikkinen family hears the report, they rush outside to discover a man lying dead on the road, his heart punctured by a bullet. The bewildered neighbors—a pair of teenage boys returning from a dance and an elderly cobbler—gather around the body, each offering a fragment of what they saw and heard.
The farmer who found the victim insists on calling the local magistrate, while the community wrestles with rumors of drunken revelry and the fear that a murderer may still be nearby. As the locals attempt to piece together the fleeting clues—no lights, no obvious witnesses—their ordinary lives are pulled into a tense inquiry that threatens to expose hidden ties and long‑kept secrets. The story unfolds with a keen eye for the stark, wind‑swept landscape and the quiet desperation of those caught in its shadow.
