A humble elderly couple discovers a tiny, wondrous bird perched on their table, its wings etched with a promise: whoever eats it will spit out gold and become a king. Though the prospect tantalizes, the pair, content with their simple life and wary of the trouble wealth can bring, decide to part with the creature rather than chase such power.
The bird soon reaches a traveling merchant, whose clever but cruel stepmother learns of the secret inscription. Intrigued, she schemes to use the bird’s magic for her own gain, involving the merchant’s sons in the unfolding drama. This folk tale weaves humor and moral questioning, inviting listeners to wonder how ordinary lives change when a single enchanted creature appears at their doorstep.
