Description

A war‑torn forest swallows a small company of soldiers, led by the stoic commander Andrzej Kmicic, whose injuries leave him teetering between death and consciousness. His steadfast guide, Soroka, pushes the battered cavalry through soggy glades without knowing the road ahead, offering water and quiet reassurance. As Kmicic awakens, his mind is clouded with a single, desperate request for drink, while the surrounding trees loom like silent witnesses. The tension between hope and the looming night creates a palpable atmosphere of fragile survival.

The men press onward, following fresh, shallow tracks that suggest recent passage by both beasts and humans. Moonlight reveals a flickering glow in the distance—a blaze of tar and smoke rising from a hidden clearing. There they encounter a lone figure draped in sheepskin, tending a strange fire that crackles with a metallic scent, hinting at hidden dangers and uneasy alliances. As night deepens, the weary company must choose whether to trust the enigmatic fire‑watcher or press further into the unknown.
