In a remote northern land a foreboding forest grows so dense that even the wind seems to hesitate before entering. The trees press together, rain falls in torrents, and only once every thirteen years does a sudden rainbow calm the relentless storm, filling the woods with birdsong for a single day. At the forest’s edge lives a widowed mother and her bright‑eyed son, Olli, who survive by spinning wool and sharing simple joys with Olli’s wooden toy horse, Pallu.
Beyond the humble cottage rises the glittering palace known as the Castle of Shadows, where a mournful king and queen rule over halls of gold and sorrow. Legends speak of two princely riders who vanished while seeking the forest’s hidden magic, prompting the monarch to promise a great reward for any clue to their fate. When Olli’s mother recalls the princes’ doomed quest, the boy’s curiosity is sparked, setting him on a path that may lead him into the very heart of the enchanted woods.
