A PET OF THE BALLET
A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE
OUR MUSICAL COMEDY
A young ballet dancer named Lizzie Emmett lives on the edge of the stage, her worn satin shoes a constant reminder of how little the troupe’s members can afford. She spends her evenings patching the fragile footwear while dreaming of a steadier future, and the cramped, shabby room she shares offers little comfort. When a knock comes at her door, she expects only the familiar face of Polly Steele, her only regular visitor.
Instead, a strikingly dressed stranger steps inside—Philippe Rossignol, a foreign gentleman whose polished attire and courteous bow seem out of place in the gritty neighborhood. He presents Lizzie with a neatly wrapped parcel, his polite persistence clashing with her blunt, distrustful demeanor. Their terse exchange hints at hidden motives and a curiosity that neither can ignore, setting the stage for a subtle clash of worlds that could change the course of Lizzie’s modest life.

A master of late-Victorian suspense, this prolific English writer is best remembered for The Beetle, the eerie 1897 thriller that once rivaled Dracula in popularity. Writing under a pseudonym, he built a huge readership with stories full of mystery, menace, and sharp twists.
