Description

The Bastable children—Oswald, Dora, Dicky, Alice, Noel and the enigmatic H. O.—have always been a whirlwind of imagination and mischief. After a chance encounter with a kindly Indian uncle, their modest home on Lewisham Road gives way to a sprawling red house on Blackheath, complete with gardens, servants and every modern convenience a young adventurer could dream of. Yet the new comforts spark more questions than contentment, as the siblings discover that wealth can be as unsettling as it is delightful.

Now settled in their grand new surroundings, the Bastables turn their restless energy toward a fresh quest, spurred by the promise of hidden treasure and the lure of the unknown. Their lively banter, the clash of generations, and the gentle satire of “jam on the shelves” set the stage for a spirited exploration that blends humor, family dynamics, and the timeless thrill of a hunt just beginning.
