Description

Two spirited sisters, Janet and Phyllis Page, step onto the historic grounds of Hilltop School, a stately colonial house perched on a Virginia hill. Their confident older sister, Miss Hull, insists on separating the twins into different rooms, believing it will help them grow, but the girls quickly argue that their bond is essential. Their lively banter reveals a blend of youthful bravado and genuine anxiety as they adjust to the school’s strict etiquette and the looming shadows of the surrounding trees.

The sisters watch the twilight from a balcony, dreaming of their friends Sally and Daphne, who promised to join them after a delayed train. As a red‑haired, spectacled newcomer arrives at their door, the twins sense the beginnings of a new camaraderie that could ease their homesickness. In this genteel Southern setting, the Page twins must navigate authority, friendship, and the subtle politics of boarding‑school life, all while clinging to the comfort of each other’s presence.
