Description

In the tumultuous years following the war, a once‑powerful secret society begins to crumble amid bitter feuds in the North Carolina foothills. John Graham, a former Klan leader, returns home bruised and desperate, confronting an uncompromising judge who has stripped him of his livelihood. Around him, a cast of familiar faces—his loyal but weary father, his eager brother, a steadfast housekeeper, and a determined young woman—each wrestle with the fragile hope of rebuilding lives under a cloud of lingering mistrust.

As the community grapples with the uneasy peace, the lingering specter of the “Invisible Empire” lingers in whispered conversations and hidden alliances. Old loyalties clash with new ambitions, and the characters must navigate a world where personal honor, family duty, and the promise of justice are constantly tested. The first act sets a vivid stage of conflict and conviction, inviting listeners to witness how these fractured bonds might either mend or snap under the weight of history.

A preacher, lecturer, and bestselling novelist, this controversial American writer turned his views on race and politics into hugely influential fiction and drama. He is remembered above all for works that helped shape the racist mythology behind The Clansman and, later, The Birth of a Nation.
