Description

Born on the rugged island of Guernsey, Isaac Brock grew up amidst a tradition of maritime toughness and disciplined schooling. After a youthful enlistment, he quickly earned a reputation for boldness in the French campaigns of Egmont and Copenhagen, where his skill with the sword earned him rapid promotion. The distant war in Europe left a vacancy in North America, and British command sent the rising officer to the uncertain frontier of Upper Canada.

There, Brock confronted a sparsely defended province threatened by an aggressive American neighbor. With keen political sense he forged an uneasy alliance with the Shawnee leader Tecumseh, recognizing the value of native warriors in any defense. His daring plan to seize Detroit surprised both sides, and within weeks the modest British garrison turned the town over without a shot, bolstering morale and securing the Union Jack’s hold on the Great Lakes. Listeners will feel the tension of a young commander shaping a nascent nation.
