The Shield of Silence

In the secluded mountains of Southern Appalachia, a modest Episcopal convent called Ridge House becomes a quiet waypoint for two very different women seeking answers. Meredith Thornton, once a beautiful but controlled young woman, arrives with a restless soul finally awakening from a life of muted expectations. Old Becky Adams, a rugged hill‑dweller who has learned hard lessons from the harsh terrain, follows a promise made years before, stepping onto the same path.

Together they draw Sister Angela’s attention, a devout caretaker whose faith is tested by a strange demand delivered in a letter and a worn promise. All three feel the shadow of a massive greenish‑white rock and the ominous ship that once brought plague and ruin to the valley. As they confront the legends of the Rock and the ship, the women must choose whether to cling to familiar comforts or let go and forge a new destiny.
