The S.S. Andaman arrives in Colombo carrying a modest cargo and an unusual passenger list: seven missionaries with Bibles, a handful of curious travelers, and Captain James Kelly, who has commanded the ship for ten years. Whispers of a modern pirate plot drift through the harbor, fueled by a silent wireless tower and missing dispatches. Into this uneasy setting steps Jim Maitland, a sharp‑tongued correspondent, whose curiosity soon pits devout prayer against the restless sea.
The missionaries sit on deck, reciting prayers while the crew mutters about the odd silence, and the ship prepares for a voyage to Plymouth. A sudden storm in the Indian Ocean threatens to reveal hidden motives among the passengers. Listeners are drawn into a tightly wound mystery where faith, secrecy, and the lure of piracy collide, promising a suspenseful first act on the high seas.
