Description

In the frozen reaches of Siberia, a bleak settlement clings to the edge of a vast, mist‑shrouded taiga. The daily grind is marked by the clank of chains as exiles march to cut timber under the watchful eyes of Cossack guards, while the distant toll of a bell announces the arrival of the Czar’s mail—news that can bring either hope or harsher fate.

Among the log‑filled streets lives a ten‑year‑old boy named Peter, the son of a political prisoner turned bootmaker. He helps his father in a cramped hut, tending a battered brass samovar and dreaming of a life beyond the relentless cold. As the first sled‑bells echo through the valley, Peter’s curiosity and his father’s whispered stories of distant cities stir a yearning for freedom that begins to shape his path in this harsh, unforgiving world.
