Description

Billy spends a lazy spring afternoon in his garden, where his mother turns a simple orange, a lemon stick, and a rubber band into a lively lesson about the Earth’s axis and the equator. Her playful warning—“don’t lose the equator off the Earth”—sits in his mind like a secret promise. When Billy’s imagination runs wild, even the garden’s bees seem ready to become fairies, and a sprightly figure named Nimbus appears, offering a hint of magic.

Before long the rubber‑band equator slips from its place and darts away, turning the quiet yard into a grand chase. Armed with a tiny wand and a whimsical trolley car, Billy and Nimbus set off on a whirlwind pursuit that carries them across enchanted landscapes—snow‑filled valleys, passive volcanoes, and night that lasts six months. Along the way they meet odd companions, from a singing equine ox to a compass that points toward wonder, each encounter pulling the boy deeper into a world where geography truly comes alive.
